The
St. John’s Choir is touring North America taking a program
of Anglican choral music with an emphasis on music related
to St. John the Baptist (including Gibbons’ setting of This
is the Record of John, Part – An Anthem of St. John the
Baptist, and a new commission by composer Philip Moore).
There has
been a long history of choral music at St. John’s where the
Choir has been singing Chapel services from its founding in
1660 to the present day. The Choir is composed of about 28
undergraduate and graduate students under the direction of
the Organ Scholars. Recent tours have taken the Choir to
many places of worship in England, including Westminster
Abbey, and internationally to many European countries, the
USA, and South Africa.
